Kaira (part of The Two Butterflies)
Kaira is one of the pair of circus models based on a Victorian travelling double act: Les Deux Papillons (The Two Butterflies). Her partner is Miss La La (seen separately) and each can be bought solo or as a duo!
Not as much is known about Kaira (real name Theophilia Szterker) as was documented about Miss La La except that she was notably fair where Miss Lala was dark, hence them working as the double act and that they’d been working together since children when they joined forces as part of the Kaira family troupe. Once they split from the troupe and formed their own double act in 1883 Kaira’s main role was to jump from her trapeze and spin in the air before being caught by La La. Sadly Kaira’s circus career was cut short in the way of many performers as she fell and died 5 years into her performances with Miss La La, only living into her 20s.
Kaira is part of the larger circus model series; more detailed models of notable size designed as sculptural pieces. These models are made the same as all models using wire, paper mache, plaster, paint and varied adornments including textiles and decorations. All are varnished for longevity.
